Some writers have complained about being denied after submitting freelance writer applications to Demand Studios. In this post I will give five tips on how to be sure your freelance writer application is accepted by Demand Studios.
I recently wrote a post that reviewed Demand Studios, which is a freelance writing company. In that review I listed the advantages and disadvantages of working for this company as a freelance writer.
If you are interested in making more money by freelance writing then check out my previous Demand Studios review post for more information before you read this post. It will help you with background information on the company, and help you decide if you want to apply.
Demand Studios pays $15.00 per article, which is somewhat decent pay. I know that there are ways to make much more money freelance writing, but it’s a start. Plus, they pay twice a week through Paypal, so you can always make money and have access to it really fast.
I was slightly worried about being accepted when I applied, since I read reviews from other seasoned writers who were not accepted. I still do not know the exact criteria that Demand Studios uses to choose freelance writers, but I can reveal what I learned from the application process, and from working for them for two months now.
1. Make sure your application is error free. Check and recheck your application for any spelling errors. This may seem like an obvious suggestion, but I always find errors when I recheck my work. So, paying attention to this may keep your application out of the denied list.
2. Fill out the application in detail. Don’t skip sections, or leave important information blank.
3. Make sure your resume effectively portrays your writing experience. I don’t know how much weight is given to experience for application approval, but it can only help to have a superior resume. Use your resume to emphasize your writing strengths if you do not have a lot of experience.
4. Choose the writing samples you submit carefully. I suggest submitting less formal, but informative samples that display your expertise on a particular subject. If possible, submit a list type article as your sample. You can view one of the samples I submitted here, 10 Things A Sucessful Mystery Shopper Must Do , to give you a general idea of what type of article to submit. The sample I submitted was a previous blog post.
5. Check out an article on one of their sites. This will help you understand the type of writing assignments they offer. Then you can choose a writing sample that mimics the writing style the company prefers. Check out this article I wrote for them that is posted on one of their sites, How To Become A Grocery Broker.
The above tips are basic suggestions based on my experiences. I do not have access to any members of the application department, so I do not know all of the criteria that Demand Studios uses to choose freelance writers.
After writing over 40 articles for Demand Studios, I can tell you that most of their writing assigments are informative how-to articles, factual articles about a particular subject, or list articles that cover a specific topic.
I hope that sharing my experiences can help you understand the type of work that they offer, and how you can present the best application. If you have any questions at all about the process, please ask in the comment section below, and I will respond promptly.
Also feel free to comment, or present any tips you may have about the Demand Studios application process.
